Welcome to the Hastings Birdwatchers website. This website is dedicated to birdwatching around Port Macquarie and the Hastings region on the mid north coast of NSW - The Hastings region covering an area of 3693 square kms, is blessed with superb beaches, lakes, rivers, estuaries, lagoons, mountains, and rainforests, providing a range of habitats for an incredible variety of fascinating and interesting birds.
The regional centre of the Hastings Region is the historic town of Port Macquarie which is situated at the mouth of the Hastings River. It is approximately 380kms from Sydney and 560kms from Brisbane. There are daily bus, rail (to nearby Wauchope) and air connections to both Sydney and Brisbane.
The Hastings Birdwatchers is a small club which conducts regular field trips on the first Friday of each month and the third Sunday every other month. The club also conducts regular wader counts on Pelican Island at Port Macquarie as well as assisting with surveys of other bird sites within the Hastings region. The yearly subscription to the Hastings Birdwatchers is AUD$25.00 (Single) $35 (Family) or $10 (Student) entitling you to participate in club activities and to receive a quarterly newsletter. Students are those enrolled in a full time tertiary course. Visitors are always welcome and you may contact us here. Please note the club is unable to accept persons under 18 years of age at field trips unless accompanied by an adult.
